6 Things Your OB-Gyn Wants You to Stop Worrying About!

Here are 6 things your OBGYN wants you to stop worrying about!

1. Worrying about hair "down there"

We don't care if you shave, trim or wax before your appointment. It doesn't obscure anything we need to see or get in our way at all. Please, please, please don't worry about this! If it is causing you problems, sure let's talk about it!

2. Worrying about your exam

We understand, NOBODY likes to have a pelvic exam. Nobody is excited about a vaginal exam! Please don't postpone your care or your exam because you are worried. We will work with you to make your exam as comfortable as possible. If we work together, your exam should be painless.

3. Worrying about cleaning your vagina

STOP using vaginal soaps, washes, douches and most OTC treatments for discharge. Please don’t use these things! Yes they market them and say they are great for you, but trust us, they aren’t!  (In truth--Monistat is usually the ONLY OTC treatment I routinely support).

4. Worrying about your toenails

We probably are overdue for a pedicure too- don’t worry it!

5. Worrying about being sweaty

We understand you are likely anxious, and we also know we can’t control our bodies' response to that.  It doesn’t effect how we do your exam. So please, don’t worry about it! If this is bothering you at times outside of your appointment, please let us know!

6. Worrying about asking questions

That is what we are here for! Ask me! I would much rather you ask me than ask Google! There are no stupid questions.

We understand coming to an OBGYN can provoke a lot of anxiety and it can certainly cause one to feel self-conscious.  We are here as your healthcare providers.  We care about you and your health.  We will do our best to help make you feel comfortable.
